The design of the Ritz Carlton in Truckee, CA- with the outdoors in mind!

Recently, we spent a glorious few nights at the Ritz Carlton, in Truckee, CA.  While participating in something called "Marshmology" which is having s'mores outside the Ritz in Truckee at a huge firepit!  They even have a marshmallow of the day, which for our stay was banana marshmallow!

I had a great conversation with other guests and the recreation supervisor, Sean Brooker!  He told all of us about how the goal of the design of the Ritz Carlton, Truckee was bringing the outdoors in!  I can't remember all of the interesting things about the building of the hotel, but one thing that stood out was that the huge fireplace in the Living Room of the hotel is meant to be like the tree trunk!

The hotel reminds me, personally, of the old national park hotels such as the Awahnee!

Contact Sean Brooker, Recreation Supervisor, for more information about the design and goals of the hotel.  He has a wealth of information!

While all the parents of the children were relaxing by the fire, it was so much fun to listen to the history of the hotel!  It felt like winter camp!
