Celebrating St. Patrick's Day at Buena Vista Cafe, San Francisco - Irish Coffee

I first went to the Buena Vista Cafe while visiting my aunt in San Francisco, CA.  This place is always busy!  Though it is in the Fisherman's wharf area, this place is frequented by locals as well as tourists.

The story about the Irish Coffee at Buena Vista I was told was this a travel writer from the San Francisco Chronicle brought the Irish Coffee to the United States after drinking it at the Shannon Airport in Ireland.  He worked with Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco to start serving it on November 10, 1952.  He worked with bar owners Jack Koeppler and George Freeberg to recreate the Irish method for floating the cream on top of the coffee, sampling the drink one night until he nearly passed out.
