Recipe for Chocolate- Candy Cane Cake
Ingredients:
1 package (2 layer size) of chocolate cake mix
1 package ((3.9 ounce) of JELL-O chocolate pudding
4 eggs
1 container (8 ounce) of sour cream
1/2 cup of oil
1/2 cup of water
1/4 cup of milk
1 package (4 ounces) of semi-sweeten chocolate, chopped
18 small candy canes, coarsely crushed (about 1 cup,) divided
1 tub of prepared whipped topping or 8 ounces of fresh whipped cream
Preparation:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees
2. Beat first 7 ingredients in a large bowl with mixer until blended. Stir in chopped chocolate and 2 tablespoons of crushed candy canes. Pour into 2 (9 inch) round pans sprayed with cooking spray.
3. Bake 35 to 40 minutes,or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes. Loosen cakes from sides of pans; invert onto wire racks. Carefully remove pans. Cool cakes completely.
4. Fill and frost cakes with whipped cream, sprinkle with remaining crushed candy just before serving, keep refrigerated.
