The company is owned by Laurie Furber, who left a job overseeing the mail-order division of pottery barn to spend more time with her family and her husband JP, a former Gap buyer. The headquarters is about 10 miles from her Alamo, California home.
Elsie Green, formerly Greenhouse Design studios, stocks new products made of organic and repurposed materials, as well as vintage items that are recycled.
The company still writes thank you notes for each order and hopes to build a company they can pass on to their children.
