John Muir House National Park, Martinez, CA- Amazing place to see!

The John Muir House in Martinez, CA is one of my favorite house tours in the east bay!  My favorite part of the house is the scribble room, where Muir did his amazing writings that changed the course of history for the lands of our beautiful national parks!

Stickeen by John Muir
(This story was written by John Muir and is my son's favorite, it is about Muir's adventures with a dog named Stickeen in Alaska.  Later, when he was a family man and farmer, he named his pet family dog, Stickeen.)
This book was dedicated to Helen, and was written in 1909.

Celebrating St. Patrick's Day at Buena Vista Cafe, San Francisco - Irish Coffee

I first went to the Buena Vista Cafe while visiting my aunt in San Francisco, CA.  This place is always busy!  Though it is in the Fisherman's wharf area, this place is frequented by locals as well as tourists.

The story about the Irish Coffee at Buena Vista I was told was this a travel writer from the San Francisco Chronicle brought the Irish Coffee to the United States after drinking it at the Shannon Airport in Ireland.  He worked with Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco to start serving it on November 10, 1952.  He worked with bar owners Jack Koeppler and George Freeberg to recreate the Irish method for floating the cream on top of the coffee, sampling the drink one night until he nearly passed out.
