Hunter Gatherer Guide to 21st Century
Our blog explores what it is like to be a bungalow owner, and how to do-it-yourself if you're not really a do-it-yourself-er. We explore old bungalow living, report on bungalow events, and discuss craftsman-style bungalows -- without an *arts-and-crafts-style or die* attitude.

Old bungalow front porch
I am sitting on my front porch with my dog and computer! I love the way old bungalows are built to be able to sit outside and relax on a summer evening!
ADU part II
In my first post, I shared that lying is a bad way to introduce an ADU. My first suggestion is to be honest. My neighbor said he wanted three inches for water drainage between our properties, then he built 3 inches of plywood between our properties, now the are connected again, so he lied. My view is to not lie!
ADU etiquette Part 1
Given my involvement with teaching during a pandemic for several years, I have missed much of the ADU news over the past years. Now, I am doing some research into this phenomena, now that it is summer and I have some real actual encounters with what I call “planet ADU” in Rockridge.
My first thought is in respect to a favorite singer when he was interviewed regarding tips after raising his two sons with his long time sweet wife. He said he told his sons “Don’t be an ass hole.” I will start with that one way is being an asshole is lying about whether you are doing an ADU and pretending to want need your neighbor to cut three inches from their deck for drainage and to prevent water damage, when you really just want to crawl under their deck and build and expand your property, and create an ADU. When one is an asshole promptly admit it and take responsibility, and make up damage, such as offering to remove the piece of wood illegally built by trespassing.

Reading- Under Construction
This is going to be one of my summer reads! Anyone who loves and stays in old bungalow knows that living your best life takes some work- even when your window doesn’t open because it is old and tired!
