Pasadena Bungalow Heaven

We're getting ready to head to Pasadena for the "Bungalow Heaven" home tour! The annual Bungalow Heaven tour is this Sunday, April 11 from 10am-4pm. Looking forward to a fun day.

I love Rockridge Furniture, at 5601 College Avenue in Oakland, CA - 877-428-9625. The staff there are really friendly and helpful.

Rockridge is a fantastic neighborhood, full of bungalows and Arts & Crafts homes. College Avenue is the shopping district for the Rockridge neighborhood, and it draws folks from all over the San Francisco Bay Area to shop (and to window shop).

About half of the collection at Rockridge Furniture is influenced by the Mission style.

About Our Blog

In 2003, we abandoned apartment living. Rejecting the wild prices of plain looking ranch-style and Eichler houses on the San Francisco Peninsula, we instead searched for a house with character. We found it in the form of a bungalow in the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland.

The big question: did we get more character than we bargained for?

We aren't contractors, designers, architects, or builders. We never thought of ourselves as do-it-yourself-ers. But, our old bungalow had other plans for us. And now we have an amazing 3-year-old, making things even more interesting.

Our blog explores what it is like to be a bungalow owner, and how to do-it-yourself if you're not really a do-it-yourself-er. We explore old bungalow living, report on bungalow events, and discuss craftsman-style bungalows -- without an *arts-and-crafts-style or die* attitude.
